Barking Crab, Boston

2lb lobster at the Barking Crab by arcticpenguin.

This is a stunt lobster I found on the internets. The Barking Crab is a colorful harborside family drinking establishment under a tent within easy walking distance of the ICA. They give you more shrimp than you can ever eat and make you smash your lobster open with a rock. This is a great first date activity. Does your date give you the bigger claw on the lobster? Yes? That is exceptionally nice of him, because lobsters are delicious.
downsides? screaming children running back and forth, sharing tables, waitstaff tried to take our last piece of garlic bread four times in two minutes.

Lobster Roll

Neptune Oyster= totally delicious, sharp, happy and unpretentious tiled little space, good wine list according to Molly, great oysters, buttery perfect lobster roll and fries. mmmmmm. Forgot my camera.

Tappan Zee Bridge

We had a very good brunch by the Hudson. She could see the house in Nyack she shared with my grandfather for fifty years. I could see the hazy skyline of New York City down river.grandma

Regina’s Pizza, North End

Uh oh New York City.  I found a restaurant I love in Boston.  And it sells pizza.  And it is old and simple.  Salad, no there is no salad.  There is pizza.  There is root beer in paper cups and draft beer in cunning little eight ounce mugs.  Tim was visibly distraught that the pizza was better than the last nyc pizza we ate.  ha ha Tim.

Woodman’s Fried Clams

When you come visit we will eat these. I went with a new friend and it was perfect. The tartar sauce has real flavor and balances the rich battered deliciousness of the clams. With coleslaw and MGD as vegetables. yum.

Patsy’s Pizza, East Harlem

I prefer crispy- but it had a tangy sauce.

Soup Dumplings

I want to eat them. If I were to happen to be in Flushing this weekend around lunch time are there any of you people who would meet me here?

Maple Sugar in My Veins

North Hadley Sugar House

North Hadley Sugar House

It’s that time of year my dears. Pancakes, waffles, french toast, cider donuts, old people coffee, bacon, sausage- and what are you having?

You know how some people are really weird about chocolate? That’s how I feel about maple sugar. It comes out of a motherfucking tree. It is amazing. I would probably eat it until my brain turned inside out, if I wasn’t afraid of my brain turning inside out. Because it turns on you like mezcal, I’m afraid. You’re riding high on the maple dragon and then suddenly everything inside and outside of you turns to mud. And you realize, it’s the first of March. And it won’t actually be warm enough in New England to enjoy putting your feet on the ground for another 3 months. Go back to bed and sleep it off, maple junkie.
