How to know when you are tired.

You can’t stand up and you can’t lie down.
You are angry about the sheets.
The dog takes a running leap
onto your bladder.
Colors are dull but still irritating.
You eat handfuls of things out of the boxes
in the cupboard.
Lonely, but there is no one you want to talk to.
The dirty dishes emit a low warning whine you can hear from the bedroom.
The pictures hang crooked on the walls.
Unopened bills shut in a drawer shriek.
The dry cleaning provokes you.
The laundry sits and stinks.
You want to go out, but once out you long to be in.
Don’t even think about the dentist.
