Irrational Exuberance

(more poetry found as I clean up my computer- not sure what I was thinking about in 2002)

Just for a minute
a single ray of sun
illuminated a bear
on a tricycle
in a brightly spotted hat
at a jaunty angle.

I believe you could just make out that
he held a noisemaker
in his strong jaw so his furry lips
smirked.

Walking through a wide open space
you suddenly broke into a run-
looping,
skipping,
running backwards.

You imagined that the world ran with you
a window opened into each city square showing
a running figure
smiling at nothing in front of her.
