The home brewery is growing, yeastily. This week I’ve been reminded of the children’s picture book Ox Cart Man by Donald Hall that was one of my favorites as a child. In my recollection of the story, the colonial New Englanders would spend all long winter spinning, stitching and curing and then when the snow thawed they would take their products to town to trade for seed and needles and sugar. The mentally productive and physically restrained nature of winter’s work is cozily in swing here in Queens. We are endlessly blessed- our local brewery is hosting a ten week tasting training series this winter so we can absolutely geek out while still in the first blush of love with our new hobby.
